Activities up
Serving
on the Department of Energy Center for Risk Excellence support team
to develop and implement policy practices, guidance, tools, support,
and training that result in risk-based decisions that protect both
human health and the environment on a national level.
The
Risk Assessment Information System, which was developed in collaboration
with the University of Tennessee, is a publicly available web-based
system used to disseminate risk tools and supply information for risk
assessment activities. A primary objective of the Risk Assessment
Information System (RAIS) is to change the "black box" perception
of the risk assessment process by providing key information and tools
used by risk assessors to the public via the internet.
Spatial
Analysis and Decision Assistance (SADA) is a University of Tennessee
owned freeware program that was created in collaboration with ORNL
to incorporate tools from environmental assessment fields into an
effective problem-solving environment. SADA has a strong emphasis
on the spatial distribution of contaminant data and is therefore suited
for anyone who needs to look at data within a spatial context.
Research
into cultural risk assessment approaches and methods by a team comprised
of DOE, ORNL, ANL, PNNL, and ASTM will be applicable to all hazardous
waste sites that potentially impact specific cultural groups (i.e.
Native American, African American, Asian….)
